This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the delivery of high-quality inpatient mental health treatment and care.ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership and direction to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality mental health care.Oversee the daily management and coordination of nursing and multidisciplinary teams within the inpatient unit.Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical practices, policies, and procedures in line with best practice and regulatory standards.Promote a recovery-oriented approach to mental health treatment, ensuring service users are treated with dignity and respect.Manage staffing levels, skill mix, and resource allocation to ensure efficient service delivery.Support, mentor, and develop nursing staff through supervision, appraisal, and continuing professional development.Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and risk management processes.Foster effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the service.Contribute to the strategic planning, budgeting, and operational management of the serviceRequirementsRegistered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
Minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role within a multidisciplinary team.Demonstrated knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control.Proven ability to design, deliver, and evaluate staff training programmes.Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to ongoing learning.Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship management skills.Commitment to further study in Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) and SafeWards to ensure ongoing competence and compliance.Postgraduate qualification in Infection Prevention & Control, Nursing Management, SafeWards, or a related field (desirable).
