Job Description Job Title ; CNS ; Cardiology ; Electrophysiology / Cardiac arrhythmias Department Cardiology Reports to ; ADON Cardiology Dat; 2024 Overall Purpose of Job The Cardiology Clinical Nurse Specialist (EP) will work in collaboration with other members of the Beacon Cardiology team in providing specialist cardiac nursing care.
This role will provide both direct and indirect care to the patient admitted with cardiac arrhythmia, in particular, patients using electrophysiology studies (EPS), radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and device insertion of pacemakers (PPM), implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD) and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). The primary role of this position is the advancement of expert nursing practice.
The role will patient and staff education and provide support for colleagues throughout the Cardiology Service.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables The CNS will be required to provide excellent patient centered care to all patients and to work autonomously in providing specialist assessment, advice and management.
Ensure patients receive individualized care appropriate to their needs.
Communicate the plan of care to the patient and their family.
Educate patient and their family.
Provide post discharge patient information and support the nursing team in post procedure management.
Demonstrate appropriate practice and specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
Act as patient advocate.
Utilize the nursing process as it applies to clinical practice, education, competency validation and program development. Demonstrate ability to perform competencies as set out by the Director of Nursing/clinical Director to include but not limited to maintaining and accurately documenting information by using the relevant computer systems.
Participate in ongoing clinical, audit and quality programs and contributes to the cardiology service strategic plan, yearly education plan, goals and objectives and the Quality Management Process.

Person Specification Qualifications Nursing Board Registered General Nurse (NMBI) licence in good standing.
Post Graduate qualification in Cardiology/Cardiovascular Nursing.
Advanced Health Assessment Desirable Higher Diploma Cardiology Minimum of five-year post registration experience in the acute sector Experience in Cardiology/EP Evidence of personal professional continuing development ACLS / BLS Experience Ability to develop policies and protocols in conjunction with other members of the team Candidates must possess teaching abilities, leadership qualities, professional judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and a sense of professional development.
Must demonstrate multi-tasking ability.
