We would like to invite applications for the role of Director of Nursing for Loughshinny Residential Home, Skerries, Co Dublin .
Purpose of the role To provide professional and business leadership in the day-to-day operations of Bartra Loughshinnny Residential Home.
In order to achieve this, the DON will be required to fulfil, in line with documented policies and procedures, line manager responsibilities on a day-to-day basis in the areas of Governance and Management, Clinical care, social care, Transitions, Transfers and occupancy management, Family support, HR management, Financial and administration management, Facility management.
  Roles and Responsibilities Ensure that care is delivered at a high standard in keeping with the companies' person-centred approach and in line with the companies' policies and procedures Ensure that any deficit in the service is managed in keeping with the companies Complaints Policies/Elder Abuse Policy Communicate openly with all staff, residents, families, other health professionals and visitors in a courteous and professional manner reflecting positively on the home and Bartra Educate and promote Batra's person centred care philosophy to all staff Ensure all company reports and information that is requested internally is prepared and delivery on time To ensure the Residential Home meets with all statutory and regulatory requirements Ensure the Residential Home is prepared for Inspections (HIQA and Bartra internal, WRC, EHO and Fire Officer.)
  Qualifications and/or experience Essential : A registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
Qualifications in Management and Leadership Evidence of continuous professional development.
  Desirable : Post Graduate Masters/Diploma in Gerontology Post Registration Qualification in nursing people with dementia.
  Essential Experience Minimum three years post graduate experience with a minimum of two years' experience in Care of the Older Person within the previous 6 years.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a management capacity in the health and social care area, and   Desirable: Have an in-depth knowledge of the ageing process.
Essential Criteria Cheerful and compassionate nature Be caring, patient, empathetic and have a strong interest in care of the elderly Team player Sound judgment, initiative and problem-solving abilities and be able to pay attention to the details.
Reading, writing and communicating clearly in English is vital.
Someone that would be a good team member and would respond positively to management and direction.
  Desirable : Experience is preferred, but not as essential as genuine desire to develop or progress a career in this field is a vital attribute.
Skill sets that could be value adding to social programmes and activities and willingness to use them.
