JOB DESCRIPTION:
Organize, coordinate and promote a comprehensive sports program that is designed to meet the
needs and interest of the district and community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communications and interpersonal skillsCoaching Principles Certificate (NFHS or ASEP)Sports First Aid Health & Safety for Coaches Certificate (ASEP or PREPARE)Complete coaches' portion of NFHS Sportsmanship CourseComplete NFHS Concussion courseComplete NFHS Heat Acclimatization courseMust have an active CPR certification each year with AED TrainingComplete NFHS Sudden Cardiac ArrestGeneral knowledge of coaching techniques and proceduresKnowledge of sportSpecific knowledge of subjects assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionREQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the sport assignedManage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanshipWork with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletesEstablish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basisTake all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and facilitiesKeep informed of and ensures compliance with all AHSAA rulesMonitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participationWork with Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements for all athletic activitiesDevelop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program and make changes based on findingsAccompany and supervise student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports on out-of-town tripsInstruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practicesPerform other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: Minimum three to five years coaching experienceDuty Days: 187
