Job Title: Head of Design Main Duties / Activities: Lead, manage & develop the Design Department to ensure that the Department employs best practice in design activities to include, but not limited to, design software development, recruitment and training, Department structures and process development whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement Ensure employees within the design structure are equipped with all information to ensure effectiveness and efficiency Provide detailed analysis when required to other departments on the design aspect of projects from initial tender through to completion Engage with clients and other third parties, when required ensuring design expectations are being met communicating any concerns or issues due to complexity of design Oversee the introduction of new software, processes and practices into the department to ensure smooth implementation to include engagement with the Team and reporting on same Understanding the capacity requirements of numerous projects ensuring correct resources is applied to meet tight deadlines Actively participate in recruitment related duties for new Design Department employees acting as Recruitment Manager for the Design Department requirements Ensure that the training needs of Design Department employees are met Manage the performance of Design Department employees through KPIs, reviews, appraisals, coaching and mentoring Oversee the development of the Company's Navigate programme structure and content for the Design Department Oversee the management of the Polish Branch design department.
Provide reports as required to Management Monitor business satisfaction with the Design department ensuring departmental output meets all other department needs Ensure departmental document control is effective including the development and maintenance of a standard design library Assist with the selection, engagement and monitoring of Design Sub-Contract packages Develop continuous improvement processes, methods, techniques etc which will add value to the Design Department Health and Safety To be fully aware of and adhere to the Company's Health and Safety policies and procedures Travel Travel as required in accordance with the role's commercial functionality Other Compliance with Company policies and procedures All duties commensurate with the Job Title as directed by Management Skills/ Experience: You will utilise the following key skills/ qualifications/ experience Experience of successfully managing Design aspects of projects and people management Ability to work on own initiative with direct experience of trouble shooting to ensure the successful completion of a project Excellent communication, negotiating, influencing, analytical, problem solving, planning and organising skills Advanced knowledge of design software Other Information: You will be expected to participate in education, training or development as is necessary, to enable the company to achieve the company's objectives as communicated to you.
