Vickerstock are working in partnership with a food manufacturing firm on the appointment of a Health & Safety Manager.As the Health & Safety Manager, you will ensure all site personnel adhere to Safe Systems of Work, comply with relevant legislation, and follow established safety policies.
You will promote a strong Health & Safety culture and have experience in driving behavioural change.In your new role:Manage the Health and Safety budgetOversee the site's Health and Safety program, ensuring legal compliance and ongoing improvementKeep all risk assessments and safe work systems current and applicable to site operationsMaintain the site's Health and Safety systemsConduct specialised risk assessments, such as Manual Handling, COSHH, and DSE, to mitigate risks in line with standards, commercial, and legislative requirementsEnsure appropriate training and safety measures are evaluated and providedPrepare Health and Safety reports and lead monthly Health and Safety management review meetingsSupport site maintenance teams to ensure completion of statutory inspections, current PPM programs, and safe machinery use in compliance with legislative requirementsActively assist in monitoring on-site contractors and controlling the Permit to Work SystemOversee emergency procedures and site fire safety arrangements according to fire safety policy and risk assessmentMonitor and report incidents classified under RIDDOR to the HSA and handle any resulting correspondencePerform business risk analysis and approve all site-related risk assessments with line management support, making commercially sound recommendations to reduce risksAssist the Site Training Coordinator in sourcing training based on needs assessments, particularly health and safety training, and deliver in-house health and safety programs as neededMonitor compliance and conduct auditsLead all communications with external authoritiesEnsure accurate implementation and investigation of accidents/incidents to identify root causes and preventionWhat you will need to succeed:NEBOSH qualification or equivalentAt least 3 years of experience in Health & Safety Management within a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of Health and Safety regulations in NI and ROIBackground in managing health and safety in multi-site organisationsDemonstrated ability in influencing, coaching, communication, and time managementProficient in using Microsoft Office applicationsDriving on-site Health & Safety initiativesAbility to perform effectively under pressure and with a solutions-oriented mindsetDesirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):FMCG experience preferredUnderstanding of Continuous Improvement and Lean ManufacturingFor a confidential conversation on how Vickerstock can help support you with your next move, get in touch with Sam Geddis, our Health and Safety Specialist today.
