Artemis Executive Search has been successfully retained by an established Mid-Ulster manufacturing group to appoint a new Managing Director. The new MD will spearhead strategic initiatives, drive operational efficiencies, and prepare the organisation for acquisitions over the next two years. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of success in executive management, preferably within the manufacturing sector, and demonstrate expertise in scaling operations, optimizing performance, and navigating complex business environments.
Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership & Growth:Develop and implement a robust business strategy aligned with company goals, focusing on sustainable growth and profitability.Lead the preparation for and integration of upcoming acquisitions, ensuring a smooth transition and alignment with overall business objectives.Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including shareholders, board members, suppliers, and customers, to align objectives and drive business growth.Operational Excellence:Drive efficiencies across all operational areas, identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high product quality and service standards.Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimise resource allocation.Oversee supply chain, production, and distribution activities, ensuring consistent performance and meeting delivery timelines.Financial Performance & Budgeting:Assume full P&L responsibility, managing financial performance in line with budgets and business forecasts.Work closely with the finance team to set, monitor, and control budgets, financial targets, and KPIs, maximising profitability and ensuring cash flow stability.Provide transparent and timely reporting to the board on financial performance, risks, and opportunities.People Leadership & Culture:Inspire, mentor, and develop the leadership team and workforce, fostering a positive and high-performance culture that embraces accountability, continuous learning, and innovation.Collaborate with HR to attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring the company has the skillsets needed for future growth.Champion a safe and inclusive workplace culture, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.Business Development & Market Positioning:Identify new market opportunities and drive initiatives that expand the company's market share, both in Ireland and internationally.Establish and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and seeking growth opportunities.Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes, proactively adjusting strategy as needed.What do we look for?Proven experience in a Managing Director, General Manager, or senior leadership role within a high-turnover manufacturing environment, ideally with P&L responsibility (Accountant – Desirable)Strong background in manufacturing operations and understanding of lean methodologies, supply chain management, and quality assurance.Demonstrated ability to lead acquisitions, integrations, and/or strategic initiatives.Excellent financial acumen, with experience managing budgets, financial analysis, and cost control.Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate teams.Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and board members.Next Steps
