Road Freight Operator

DSV is recruiting for a Road Freight Operator in Naas. This role will focus on ensuring the safe and efficient transport of cargo from origin to destination, while adhering to company quality procedures and statutory requirements. This role will require you to work well in a busy and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will maintain operational control to ensure that all Service Level Agreements (SLA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed.Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Road Freight Operator plays a key role in ensuring smooth transport operations and contributing to the overall success of the organisation.Key Tasks Communicate proactively with customers and internal customer service teams.Liaise with DSV offices and agents in Ireland and overseas.Book and coordinate hauliers for international transport requirements.Negotiate transport rates when necessary.Book trailers and drivers with shipping lines via online platforms.Prepare and process documentation related to transport operations.Perform general administration duties, such as invoicing, filing, handling queries, claims, and conducting cost checks.Monitor and maintain visibility of all transports under your control.Proactively manage day-to-day transport issues and queries.Ensure that revenue and profit guidelines are met in accordance with budgetary targets.Provide accurate and competitive quotations to customers.Duties / Responsibilities Oversee the full transport process from booking to final delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction.Engage with hauliers and shipping lines to secure transportation in line with customer requirements.Handle operational tasks, such as invoicing, preparing transport documentation, and resolving any issues related to cargo movement.Ensure all transport activities comply with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure the smooth flow of goods.Manage costs, keeping them within budget while maximising efficiency.Skills and Competencies Ability to work well in a busy, fast-paced environment.Excellent problem-solving skills with strong planning and organisational abilities.Strong communication and telephone skills.Proven customer service skills and ability to manage administrative tasks.Ability to work independently and handle pressure effectively.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.What can we offer you?
