The Multi Market Power Analog IC design team is seeking a motivated, experienced Power Systems Engineer to provide support to our Industrial Power Systems (IPS) BU in Limerick or Dublin. The team is growing its power solutions, to further complement the existing mixed signal products, on lower geometry CMOS Analog Power Process technologies. The candidate will be working with experts in the power engineering team on industry leading DCDC converter research, development and technical support.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design high performance analog and mixed-signal circuits for high voltage power products. Circuit blocks include bandgap reference, current biases, amplifiers and comparators, oscillators, voltage regulators, digital logic, etc.Participate in defining circuit implementation architecture based on specifications, create transistor-level designs, and collaborate with analog layout designers for optimization.Create and maintain documentation for designs, including specifications, test plans, usage guidelines, and limitations.Evaluate the IC in the lab and debug problems. Strong knowledge of test equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc.Collaborate with design engineers and managers, layout, applications, test, and product management.Support marketing, field team and customers.Minimum qualifications Honours Degree in Electrical/Electronic, Electronic & Computer Engineering or similar.4+ years plus semiconductor industry experience; Power background an advantage.Strong knowledge in design and layout of analog and mixed-signal circuit design and architecture with various blocks such as bandgap, amplifiers, comparators, current sources, oscillators, regulators, digital logic, etc.Enjoy analog and power circuit designs, simulations, build and lab testing.Good background of analog IC design and power electronics, especially knowledge of switching mode power converter circuits and topologies.Good analytic skills and knowledge of power converter modeling, control loop design, static and dynamic performance optimizations.Experience with circuit design and simulation tools (Cadence, PSPICE, LTspice, etc…)Good communication, technical writing and team working skills. Have the ability to work as a part of multidisciplinary team.Preferred qualifications Proficiency with Cadence analog design environment, including schematic entry, analog and mixed-signal simulation.Behavioural modelling of analog circuits and analog mixed signal (AMS) verification techniques.Digital design knowledge/experience a plus.Knowledge of software tools useful for top-down design approach like SIMPLIS, Simulink, Mathcad, Matlab, etc.Experiences with advanced design and simulation tools, such as Magwel, thermal analysis, parasitic extraction tools, etc.For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
