The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Billing Manager to join our Finance Department. Operating within the Revenue Assurance function, the Senior Billing Manager will be hands-on and involved in the development and management of our business customer billing function. This exciting role will offer the right candidate the opportunity to be involved in developing processes from the ground up to enable timely and accurate billing for our growing business customer base. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head Of Revenue Protection & Billing and will have regular interaction with senior management across the business. They will leverage their previous knowledge and experiences and combine them with a desire to develop, enhance, and continually improve our billing processes. Our work is heavily data-based, as such the candidate should have a third level degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative subject such as engineering, physics, maths, science, or data analytics that demonstrates a capability to be directly involved in extracting and analysing billing data. The candidate should have an understanding, or the ability to gain an understanding of tools used to store, query, and process databases. Experience with SQL, and Python or similar tools would be highly advantageous. Being a key member of Billing, the candidate will demonstrate experience in dealing with key stakeholders across Sales, IT, and Finance in effectively delivering billing process improvements. The candidate will have previous experience in implementing a billing system and managing the third-party vendors associated with the delivery of such a system. Utilities experience would be a distinct advantage in this regard. The Role Working closely with senior management within the company, the candidate will work on the following areas:
Process Development and Management Develop and manage a robust billing process for our existing business customer base with consideration for scale. Be capable of working on your own initiative to research and understand the various wholesale charges associated with a supply point and assist the pricing manager to ensure costs are billed sufficiently. Utilise data management experience to efficiently use our data warehouse in the creation of monthly bills for our commercial customers. Oversee and manage the Data that is shared with our third-party billing system vendor to ensure billing accuracy for our B2B customers. Oversee the activities of third-party vendors to ensure the effective delivery of invoices to customers via multiple channels, (email, Post). Develop reporting and dashboards to analyse and manage unbilled consumption for our commercial customers. Work closely with our projects teams to automate existing and new tools to enable the continuous improvement of our B2B billing function. Manage the day-to-day activities of a small team of billing analysts. Vendor Manager- Billing Assume the role of B2B billing vendor manager when dealing with our third-party billing system provider. Ensure contract compliance with our third-party vendor. Develop robust monthly billing metrics in collaboration with our third-party vendor. Develop exception-handling processes with our third-party vendor. Meet regularly with third-party vendor with a view to process improvements. Oversee delivery of the third-party billing system. New Sales & Finance Work with the B2B sales manager re the effective onboarding of all new B2B customers into our Data warehouse and third-party billing system. Work closely with our financial controller re individual customer and group-level P&L analysis for our B2B customer base. Monthly Management Reports Define & produce a set of monthly reports for senior management relating to all B2B billing activity.Candidate Skills and Experience Energy industry experience and an understanding of network operator pass through charges would be a distinct advantage but not essential. Be resourceful and proactive. We are looking for a self-starter who enjoys having accountability and ownership while being part of a collaborative team. Initiative. We are looking for a candidate who has the drive and initiative to carry out their own research to solve problems. Strong problem-solving, analysis, and attention to detail with the ability to synthesize large amounts of data top-down / bottom-up. Strong data handling & data query skills are highly desirable with some experience in tools such as or similar to: Python, SQL, database management, and Tableau or Power BI. Ability to provide insights off the back of analysed data. Proven key stakeholder influencing experience is highly desirable. High level of proficiency in MS Excel is essential.
