What we do at ST Engineering iDirect, Killarney, Co. Kerry. ST Engineering iDirect set up the Killarney Innovation and Engineering centre in 2015. We are responsible for the development of solutions including Satellite and 5G integration, Non-Terrestrial Networks, satellite networking, data optimisation, network management and architecture. These solutions are utilised as part of the wider iDirect satellite communication suite including the next generation Intuition platform. We are looking for the very best candidates to join us in Kerry, where you will work alongside a wider global team of smart, creative and dedicated colleagues.

Responsibilities Analyze requirements and come up with efficient software designs. Participate in determining the future direction of our products - in the areas of software architecture, infrastructure performance, test and reliability. In an Agile framework, research, design, develop, test, integrate and document software functionality for various components within a satellite system and related environments. Participate in requirements/story definition - work with other engineers on solution designs. Assist system test in test design, automation and execution. Debug code and participate in system integration. Qualifications Education - BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics, or equivalent experience

Experience - 5+ years of industry experience in programming and software engineering

Professional Qualities Strong problem solving and communications skills. Must be a self-motivated individual with proven success in a structured development environment. Possess the ability to proactively research and develop technical solutions in a collaborative environment. Software design skills using proven and best practice design methodologies & related principles. Good understanding of networking and network protocols. Keeping pace with industry trends in software engineering, Security and Cloud technology. Strong documentation, presentation and writing skills. Position Specific Requirements - Senior Software Engineer Hands-on experience developing, designing, and testing Software applications in Linux. Detailed knowledge of object-oriented design, modelling, and programming. Knowledge of at least one of high-level programming language. Scripting - using shell scripting, Python or similar. Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols. Knowledge of Cloud based development environments and architectures. Version control systems (such as git). Additional Advantageous Skills Experience/knowledge in the following areas would also be useful:

Telecommunications systems including 3GPP, 5G, ORAN, MEC, IoT. Satellite/Terrestrial communications systems is an advantage but not mandatory. Professional software engineering practices and best practices, knowledge of UML. Network management systems, virtualization, and Cloud Provider Platforms. Test automation integrated in a CI/CD pipeline.
