What will this role involve: The Third Party Manufacturing Manager is the key point of contact between Abbott and the Third-Party Manufacturer (TPM). The primary focus of this role is to manage the strategic relationship with the TPM while also supporting and resolving day-to-day issues.
The Key Accounts Manufacturing Manager will seek to drive continuous improvement and find more efficient ways of conducting business, while ensuring the TPM delivers its volume commitments on time and in full.
The role will require the incumbent to have an in-depth knowledge of manufacturing and packing processes, supply chain, and financial analysis, along with a demonstrated ability to manage and build strategic relationships with stakeholders.
Job Responsibility Act as the primary liaison between the TPM and Abbott Nutrition and will be responsible for managing and developing the strategic relationship between the two parties.Negotiate and maintain contracts. Supervise the contractual agreements and monitor the achievement of contract goals and KPIs.Resolve all manufacturing and supply chain issues with the TPM.Ensure TPM establishes and maintains effective supply chain planning and financial reporting.Preempt issues with the TPM that may affect product quality or availability.Ensure that capacity, capabilities, and systems are in place to execute reliable and cost-effective supply of goods from TPM.Work closely with internal stakeholders including Quality Assurance, Engineering, R&D, Project Management Office, Procurement, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal, Production Planning, and Logistics teams.Monitor and track key performance metrics. Develop strategies to improve performance.Conduct regular Business Reviews with the TPM to review performance and improvement plans.Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations with the TPMs for any production or supply issues and assess effectiveness of RCAs with relevant SMEs to avoid recurrence.Manage all New Product Introduction activities at the TPM, including supporting R&D trials, First Lot to Stock production, and supply chain activities related to commercialization of new products.Evaluate cost/benefit of various financial scenarios and make recommendations to senior leadership.Lead continuous improvement, cost, process, and lead-time improvement projects.Identify, share, and replicate best practices across the internal and external supply chain network.Liaise with procurement function to understand pricing structure for key ingredients and commodities and engage with the TPMs to drive transparency in the overall pricing structure supporting pricing negotiations as required.Manage TPM P&L including standard setting, cost changes, and purchase price variance.The successful candidate will have: Required Bachelor Degree in Science, Engineering, Finance, or similar discipline.3-5 years of experience in some or all of the following disciplines: manufacturing, supply chain, finance, logistics, engineering, production planning, and customer service or Quality. This will ideally be coupled with nutritional, regulatory, and business experience.Proven history of delivering results and a strong work ethic.Strong team and organizational focus with the ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize work.Strong attention to detail, time management skills, customer service focus, and ability to multi-task.Proven project management skills, financial acumen, and proficiency in analyzing and reporting data quickly and accurately.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ownership and accountability for the entire supply chain.Experience in working with multiple functional areas and understanding of various operational disciplines (Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Purchasing, Production Planning).Strong oral and written presentation skills along with the ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.Excellent problem-solving and logical thinking skills.Accountability/Scope This position is accountable for the specific relationship management of Key Contract Manufacturers, supervising all production and supply chain activities including on-time delivery, and time to market for new products. This involves managing spend in excess of $15MM.
The position is also accountable to work with other members of the Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain to secure capacity to meet the AN business plan and to control year-to-year costs in line with other Abbott facilities. The role offers visibility to AN senior leadership and the opportunity to present to executive stakeholders.
Location: Role will be based in Sligo, Ireland, or Zwolle, Netherlands, and will initially include 20-30% travel to the TPM and to company meetings where necessary.
