Location of PostThe post will be based in the Haematology Laboratory, Mayo University Hospital, Saolta University Health Care Group. 

There is currently one permanent whole-time post available. 

A panel may be formed for Chief Medical Scientist, Haematology Laboratory, and Mayo University Hospital from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part time duration may be filled.

Mayo University Hospital is a model 3 Hospital and provides a broad range of services. 

The Department of Haematology, MUH is a consultant led service from GUH in a regional, supra-regional and centre of excellence setting. 

The laboratory provides a comprehensive blood testing service to the hospital and to general practitioners in Mayo and surrounding geographical areas.
The laboratory provides diagnostic investigations in general haematology and coagulation.

The laboratory is currently accredited by the Irish National Accreditation Board (INAB) in compliance with the international standard ISO 15189
