BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND WEST REGION POST OF PERMANENT FULL-TIME AREA MANAGER, REA SERVICES GALWAY JOB REF: 132/2024E The Role: The Area Manager will be responsible for the development and overall management of the Rea Adult Service in the East Sector.
The Area Manager will ensure the day to day management of the service area.
Adult Services reflects the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services, and will foster and promote this vision in their relationships with the people supported by the services, their families, staff members, and the wider community.
Reporting/Responsible to: Sector Manager Qualifications/Experience: A nursing qualification, (currently registered with the NMBI) or relevant healthcare qualification is an Essential requirement for the role.
RNID/RMHN qualification is an advantage.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years management experience in the Health Sector.
Candidates require a management qualification.
Candidates should have budgetary/financial, employee relations and team management experience.
Candidates must hold a full clean Irish manual driving licence.
Skills: Excellent leadership, managerial and team-working skills are required to coordinate and support the service teams and ensure that a range of high quality services are provided.
Excellent communication and organisational skills together with up to date knowledge of current thinking and practices in person centred service delivery.
Proficient in ICT skills with a good working knowledge of IT systems.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week based on a 7 day duty roster.
Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am 8pm over seven days to meet the requirements of the programme.
An on-call commitment is an essential requirement of the post.
There is an expectation that a Manager at this level will interface with external agencies and attend meetings outside of normal working hours, positively promoting the work of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
Participation in on call roster is an essential part of this post Annual Leave: 28 days per annum.
Remuneration: Director of Nursing Band 4 (General) salary scale of €73,471 per annum x 7 increments - €85,597 per annum.
Probation: A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post.
TheEmployment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment.
The probation period may be extended at the Employers discretion.
Tenure: This position is Permanent full-time and pensionable.
JOB DESCRIPTION Area Manager The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible both in their approach and their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
Specific Conditions Staff must have a positive attitude towards working with persons with an intellectual disability and help to ensure that they lead as normal and enjoyable a life as possible.
Staff must treat each person with an intellectual disability as an individual and at all times acknowledge and respect the rights and personal dignity of the person with an intellectual disability.
Staff are required to establish and maintain relationships with adults with disabilities that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.
The Role: The Area Manager is responsible for the effective management, development and support of a highly motivated staff team associated with the Services.
The Area Manager will liaise and provide direct support to other senior management and will be a proactive member of the management team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing the overall leadership to the Service Coordinator, Team Leaders and Staff Members.
The Area Manager has a pivotal role in ensuring that the day to day operations reflect the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity Services and that the needs of individuals are being met as far as possible by a highly motivated staff team.
The successful candidate will provide operational management of the Service Programme, be responsible for all aspects of the Programme, and facilitate clear communication within the Programme in relation to day to day operations as well as the goals agreed by the Service Team.
The successful candidate will promote innovative methods of service delivery in a prudent and efficient manner.
The Area Manager will support the work of the staff as a team that supports a culture of consensus decision making as far as possible.
The successful candidate will support the on-going business and work of the Sector to ensure that the highest possible standards are in place and to develop services that reflect best practice and meet the needs of the individuals we support.
The Area Manager will be an active member of the East Sector Team, participating in the operational and strategic development together with the implementation of the services strategic plan.
The area manager will assume Person In Charge responsibilities for designated centres within their service area.
Main duties & functions: Leadership Promoting and providing a person centred service.
Promoting and assimilating the vision of the Brother Of Charity Service.
Leading a team that promotes a full citizenship and involvement in their local community.
Enabling people to live a full & fulfilled life according to their needs and wishes.
Supporting people to work in teams.
Promoting advocacy among the person supported and assisting them to solve issues as they arise.
Promoting good communication and sharing off information with the service.
Developing a strategic plan and developing an annual service plan for the service.
Promoting a culture of dignity and respect for all working and supported in the service.
Ensure the policy and procedures of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland are fully implemented.
MDT supports and linkage Management Managing and supporting service coordinator, team leaders and staff teams to achieve a person centred service.
Managing an allocated budget for the service in an efficient and effective manner.
Managing any service overrun and finding solutions to address them.
Managing Human Resource issues including recruitment, induction and any industrial relation issues that arise.
Ensure that staff receive any statuary and regulatory training as required and promoting a culture and training of all relative skills.
Engaging in a problem solving mode and solving issues and operational management challenges and opportunities.
Supporting families of individuals in the service.
Supporting any relevant data bases and management of information compiled in keeping with data GDPR and the Policy and Procedures of the Brothers of Charity Service Ireland.
Identifying new service requirements of persons supported, advocating further needs and managing waiting lists.
Being an active member and participant of the East Sector Team and liaising appropriately with the Sector Manager and Sector Office.
Managing and maintaining the fleet of vehicles in the service.
Engaging and developing their own person training and personal development needs.
Engaging in supports and supervision with individuals who report to an area manager.
Managing Team Based Performance Plans within the service Buildings and property maintenance Health and Safety and Risk Management and meeting Statuary and Regulatory Requirements Ensuring all regulatory requirements are met within the service.
Identifying various health & safety issues and ensuring that appropriate solutions are put in place.
Ensuring all risks are identified, assessed and managed at a local level across the service area Managing any risks and issues in relation to fire.
Working as a Person in Charge (PIC) for a number of services.
Ensuring all the HIQA requirements and regulations are met.
New Directions implementation Ensure all HIQA regulations and standards are implemented across the service Ensuring all statutory standards and regulations are met including the Health and Safety Authority requirements.
Ensuring that all insurance requirements are met.

It would be expected that the role will evolve as professional, structural and people supported by the services demands change and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility skills that will facilitate this.
