Headway is an internationally accredited service organisation that supports adults who are affected by an Acquired Brain Injury, whether from stroke, traumatic head injury or other cause. With over 80 staff throughout the country, Headway serves over 1200 clients and family members and answers around 1000 helpline queries per annum. Headway provides services to clients from five locations in Cork/Kerry, four in Dublin city, and four in the Limerick region, as well as through the service of community rehabilitation case workers, counsellors, and outreach. We are currently seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join our team in Dublin. This is a one-year fixed term contract role, 35 hours per week MondayFriday. Skills/Experience required: Degree in psychology recognised by the PSI / BPS required. Previous experience of neuropsychological assessment, anxiety management training or work with people with acquired brain injury is desirable. Enthusiasm and attention to detail are essential. Previous group facilitation and clinical experience an advantage. Excellent administration and computer skills. Role Summary: To support the work of the psychological services and rehabilitation teams in providing specialist assessment and rehabilitation services to persons with an acquired brain injury and their families. Closing date for applications: 25/08/24 Main Duties: Clinical Supports the Psychological Services team in providing a service for persons with a brain injury including individual & group assessment and treatment. Knowledge of cognitive, behavioural and functional assessment measures would be an advantage. Supports the Psychological Services team in providing specialist vocational assessment and rehabilitation for persons with brain injury. Contributes through collaboration with other disciplines to the delivery and development of clinical services that maintain, promote and re-establish psychological well-being and social re-integration of persons with brain injury. Assists the Rehabilitation Team in the planning, implementation, administration and review of specialist rehabilitation programmes for persons with brain injury. Group facilitation and support cover as required in all groups running across Dublin services. Attends relevant team meetings and staff meetings as appropriate and agreed with the Senior Clinical Psychologist. Co-facilitation of Carer Group on a monthly basis (Saturday morning / weekday evening). Administration Follows the policies of Headway and the Psychological Services team on administrative and disciplinary matters. Maintains/provides adequate statistics and records of work including activity returns/surveys & waiting list reports. Advises Manager on budgetary issues as appropriate, including equipment and materials needed to maintain the service. Attends regional/national special interest groups, as agreed with Manager. Teaching and Training Contributes, as appropriate and under supervision, to teaching and training for health service and other staff and volunteers working with persons with brain injury. Service Evaluation and Research Supports under supervision clinically relevant research and service evaluation within Headway, where appropriate in collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines. Training and Development Keep up to date with knowledge of ABI developments and undertake training as required. Undertake regular Personal Development Reviews. Undertake continuing Professional Development as identified and agreed by manager through Performance Development Reviews Attend meetings / conferences as required by Head of Rehabilitation Services.
