Job Description & Summary: A career in our Financial Services Audit practice, within External Audit services, will provide you with the opportunity to provide a range of Assurance services and business advice to a variety of clients from small, fast growing clients to large entities. Our clients are often well known brands and many have broad international reach. We focus on using the latest technology to reduce the level of manual testing ensuring you'll focus on the most valuable areas of client service and on enhancing corporate governance and the reliability of our clients' information.
Our team helps financial organisations navigate regulatory complexity while strengthening trust and transparency in their business. Our clients cover industries within banking and capital markets, private equity, insurance, and consumer finance. While many of the rules of business have changed, the fundamentals haven't. You'll work alongside senior members of the client's management team in planning the audit process from beginning to end, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and fair presentation of our client's information.

We audit 2 of the 5 licensed domestic retail banks, 6 of the top 9 life assurance companies, 4 of the top 10 non-life insurance companies and the largest global owner/lessor of commercial aircraft in Ireland. The Banking & Insurance industries face huge challenges from changing regulation and reporting requirements. Our core audit teams work alongside highly skilled specialists including Treasury, Actuarial, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Aviation Finance, Pensions and Regulatory teams. We have also established ourselves as the leading Irish firm providing services to support many of the Aviation Finance companies that make Ireland Europe's leading aircraft leasing location. More than 50% of the world's commercial aircraft are owned by Irish companies.
Our Banking, Insurance & Aviation Finance client base provides great opportunities to work on interesting and topical areas to develop your understanding of the key issues facing these industries. This broad base provides our people with varied and rewarding career opportunities. Most of our clients are based in Dublin, typically near the city centre or within the IFSC.
Responsibilities: Responsibility for leading audit teams;Planning of audit – timing, staffing and structure;Liaising closely with clients in relation to planning and closing meetings, and discussing business developments generally;Coordinating the execution of the audit including the completing and reviewing of audit work papers;Researching and resolving technical queries from clients;Reviewing and finalising financial statements;Monitoring the development of seniors and trainees and playing an active role in the performance appraisal process;Participating in the delivery of training courses to staff;General administration, including working capital management;Using feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areas;Delegating to others to provide stretch opportunities and coaching to help deliver results;Developing new ideas and proposing innovative solutions to problems;Using a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the business area;Reviewing your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance;Sharing relevant thought leadership;Using straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing others;Able to read situations and modify behavior to build quality, diverse relationships.Education/Professional Qualifications: Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent from a recognised international accounting institution;At least 3 years practice accounting experience in a Big 4 firm or other international accounting firm;Investment Management experience is essential;Detailed understanding of Irish GAAP;Knowledge of US GAAP/SEC and International Accounting Standards would be an asset;Business Acumen - use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current trends in the market and utilise this information to assist your clients in making innovative business decisions;Relationship management - ability to read situations and modify behavior to build quality, diverse relationships;Creative - demonstrate an ability to contribute to new ideas and propose innovative solutions to problems;Excellent communication skills both written and verbal;Enthusiastic team player with a passion to coach and encourage others to achieve their potential;Ambitious – demonstrate strong commitment to personal learning and development;Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.Unlock your potential with PwC Ireland: We believe that challenges are better solved together.
