Job Overview: Horizon Controls Group are seeking an experienced ABB 800xA Automation Engineer to join our team and support a leading pharmaceutical client in the Munster region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of ABB 800xA control systems within a dynamic pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
This role will involve collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance, ensure compliance with industry standards, and contribute to the optimization of production processes.
Key Responsibilities: · System Design and Development: Develop, configure, and maintain the ABB 800xA Distributed Control System (DCS) to meet project specifications and operational requirements.
· Programming and Configuration: Write and modify control logic, batch processes, and graphical user interfaces to optimize system functionality and user experience.
· Project Management: Lead or contribute to automation projects, including system upgrades, expansions, and the integration of new equipment and technologies.
· Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
· Testing and Validation: Develop and execute Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), ensuring all automation systems are fully validated and compliant with GAMP and GMP standards.
· Troubleshooting and Support: Provide technical support for diagnosing and resolving automation-related issues and downtime, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
· Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all systems and procedures comply with industry regulations (e.g., FDA, EMA), and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
· Collaboration: Work closely with process engineers, quality assurance teams, and other stakeholders to align automation solutions with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
· Training and Guidance: Mentor and provide training for junior engineers and maintenance staff on the use and maintenance of the ABB 800xA system.
Qualifications: · Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
· A master's degree or relevant certifications would be a plus.
· Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with ABB 800xA systems, preferably within the pharmaceutical or life sciences sector.
Technical Expertise: · Proficiency in ABB 800xA system architecture, configuration, and software tools.
· Strong understanding of batch processing, control system integration, and PLC/DCS communication protocols.
· Familiarity with ISA-88 (batch control standards) and experience with GAMP 5 guidelines.
