Summary:

We are currently seeking an Automation Engineer to join our team at Tandem. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing automation projects, including generating proposals, estimates, schedules, and compliance documents, while coordinating with engineers and vendors to ensure project standards and timelines. Responsibilities include specifying hardware and systems for PLC, DCS and Safety Systems, overseeing instrumentation work, and supporting audits and compliance. The successful candidate will represent Tandem Project Management and will present proposals to clients as required.

Responsibilities: Generation of proposals, estimates, schedules, and cost control for automation projects. Carry out automation front end studies for clients. Generation of specifications and scope of work documents for Vendors and E/I contactors. Generation of FAT, SAT, URS and commissioning documents and protocols. Production of project estimates and schedules including front end package/capital cost estimates for PCS and instrumentation. Compliance support for automation functions including audits, reviews and CAPAs. Generation of qualification documents and risk assessments. Co-ordination of other automation engineers and external vendor activities. Ensuring adherence to quality standards, procedures, schedules and budgets. Specification of hardware, panels and remote I/O systems for PLC and DCS PCS. Preparation of Instrument Installation packages for E/I contractors. Specification and expediting of instruments. Management of Instrumentation, DCS and PLC System Vendors. Construction supervision of instrumentation work and E/I contractors. Design, commissioning and qualification of machine and process safety interlock systems. Specification of instruments and preparation of instrument data sheets. Preparation of Instrument Installation package for E/I site contractor. Presentation of project proposals to clients if required. Qualifications & Experience: Degree qualification in a relevant discipline i.e. automation, electrical, computer systems etc. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role ideally in the life sciences sector. Successful candidate must be a strong team player, working in a cross functional team. Experience in design and implementation of DCS and PLC/SCADA platforms.

CQV and full SDLC experience is essential. Excellent technical knowledge with good operational and/or project engineering experience i.e. all phases of the GAMP life cycle validation phases. Control system Change Control & Validation Protocol generation, review and execution. Excellent understanding of ISA-95, ISA-88 standards. Experience in OT networks design, configuration and testing. Experience working with multiple stakeholders. Experience of instrumentation design and specification for process and utility systems Attention to detail at all levels of the project lifecycle or process. Excellent communication skills.
