SimoTech is seeking an Automation Robotics Engineer with a strong focus on vendor management to drive small-scale proof-of-concept projects involving robotic automation within our client's pharmaceutical manufacturing plant.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other external vendors to define and manage the scope of work for robotics systems, including Pick & Place, palletization, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS).
Key ResponsibilitiesAct as the primary point of contact for OEMs and other vendors involved in the design, supply, and integration of robotic automation systems. Ensure clear communication and alignment on project objectives, timelines, and deliverables.Collaborate with internal stakeholders and vendors to define detailed scopes of work for proof-of-concept projects, ensuring that all technical, operational, and compliance requirements are met.Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to manage the execution of small-scale proof-of-concept projects involving various types of robotics, including Pick & Place, palletization, AGVs, AMRs, and ASRS.Provide technical oversight during the design, development, and implementation of robotic systems, ensuring that vendor proposals align with project goals.Evaluate and select vendors based on their technical expertise, reliability, and ability to meet project requirements. Conduct regular performance reviews and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-quality outcomes.Work closely with vendors and internal teams to integrate robotic systems into the existing manufacturing environment. Oversee testing and validation processes to ensure systems meet performance criteria and regulatory compliance.Ensure that all vendor-supplied robotic systems comply with relevant industry standards, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).Stay informed about advancements in robotics and automation technologies, as well as best practices in vendor management. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences or related field.5+ years of experience in automation engineering.Experience working with Siemens automation technologies including PLCs, HMIs and SCADA systems.Working knowledge of at least one robotic system such as Pick & Place, Palletization, AGVs, AMRs, and ASRS.Proven ability to develop and manage scopes of work for small-scale proof-of-concept projects.Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and processes.What SimoTech Can OfferRole provides a high degree of autonomy to allow the successful candidate to reach their full potential.Develop new skills and enhance technical ability by working with innovative technologies in a multi-disciplined environment.Opportunity to work with large corporate clients on exciting capital projects.
