Banking Accountant Overall Objective: To implement the day-to-day financial control and assist with the production of monthly management accounts, statistics, regulatory returns and financial reporting.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: Corporate accountingParticipate in daily account keepingReceive, allocate, record and pay supplier invoices, expense reports and intra-Group invoicesPrepare intra-Group invoicesMonitor trade accounts payablePerform monthly account keeping actions relating to accrued expenses and prepaid expenses on trade accounts payableHandle the accounting treatment of payroll expensesHandle the accounting treatment and monitoring of fixed assetsProduce monthly financial statements under local and IFRS standards: timeline, closing entries, analyses of financial statements, etc.Produce the annual financial statements and append them to the related accountsContribute to the production of the management reportSubstantiate the accounts under his/her responsibility and send them for accounting controlTax treatmentsAssist in the preparation of annual tax returnsAssist in the production of tax filings such as VAT, corporation tax and other country-specific filings.Ensure coherence between the various accounting and tax outputsOther DutiesParticipate in writing operational procedures and operating methodsEnsure regulatory and accounting watch activities monitoring within scope of action, support the production of CBI returnsPrepare and/or control statements to be filed with oversight bodiesCalculate and communicate the amount of the reserve requirement.Ensure coherence between various outputs: regulatory, statutory, etc.Respond to enquiries from other business units that come under the scope of activityPrepare and collate monthly statistics (e.g. aged debtors, AuA, AuC value & movement of assets, largest clients by income) for management reporting;Resolve and escalate, as appropriate, any issues;Contribute to ad hoc projects as required.Job Attributes: Job Knowledge / Technical Skills / Qualifications Qualified Accountant or a minimum an Accounting Qualification of third level qualification in a related field with relevant work historyExperience within a similar position in finance services or banking.Experience or an interest in the development and training of more junior employeesMust have excellent Excel skills and to be proficient in PowerPoint and Word.Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written English.Exposure to SAS (Statistical Analysis System), OneSumX (a regulatory reporting tool) is advantageous, but not essential.Personal Skills To be accurate and able to self-check numerical and descriptive output.To be a self-starter and enjoy working with and analysing numbers in detail.To be able to adapt to a changing finance environment and learn new accounting software applications.To be enthusiastic and motivated to learn and develop as the department evolves.To be a team player and have an interest in the development and training of others.Good communication skills and an ability to work on their own initiative are essential.To be able to work effectively and be competent at communicating in English in a business environment.
