The Bar Person is an important position working closely with the Team.
About Us The Fleet Hotel is a wonderful boutique style Hotel located in the centre of Dublin on the edge of Temple Bar.
It comprises of some beautiful period buildings including the iconic Bewleys Cafe, much loved by Dubliner's for decades.
The Fleet Hotel is synonymous with local Dublin history, before becoming the Fleet Hotel, 19/20 Fleet Street was home to Bewley's Cafe which was established by Ernest Bewley in 1905.
Bewleys were known to be one of the finest Tea Houses in Europe and a favourite with Dubliner's for generations.
Role/Responsibilities Job Summary: The Bar Person is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
The role involves maintaining the bar area, ensuring customer satisfaction, handling payments, and following all health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities: Drink Preparation: Mix and serve drinks according to standardized recipes.
Create cocktails and other beverages based on customer preferences.
Pour wine, beer, and other spirits accurately and efficiently.
Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and engage in friendly conversations.
Take orders from customers, offering suggestions based on the menu.
Ensure customers are satisfied with their drinks and overall experience.
Handle complaints or concerns professionally, escalating when necessary.
Bar Maintenance: Keep the bar area clean and organized, including washing glasses, cleaning surfaces, and restocking supplies.
Ensure that all equipment, such as blenders, shakers, and beer taps, are in good working order.
Maintain a well-stocked bar by ordering and rotating supplies as needed.
Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and tips.
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for taking orders and processing payments.
Balance the cash register at the end of the shift.
Compliance: Follow all legal regulations related to the sale of alcohol, including checking identification for age verification.
Adhere to health and safety standards, including proper hygiene practices and food safety regulations.
Be aware of and follow policies regarding the responsible service of alcohol.
Teamwork: Work closely with other bar staff, kitchen staff to ensure efficient service.
Assist with training new staff members.
Support management with inventory checks and other operational tasks as needed.
Qualifications: Experience: Previous experience as a bartender or in a customer service role is preferred.
Skills: Strong knowledge of drink recipes and beverage preparation.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to handle high-pressure situations and work in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math skills for cash handling and making change.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
