The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body for football in the Republic of Ireland. The Purpose of the organisation is "to grow participants to our game and deliver the best footballing experience for all." The Vision of the FAI is "using football to inspire and unite the nation." Business Manager, CEO Office: Reporting directly to the FAI Chief Executive Officer, the Business Manager will play an important role in supporting the CEO in all areas of delivering on the FAI's overall strategy. The Business Manager will directly support the CEO on a day-to-day basis across a broad range of areas from administration to project work.
The Position: As the Business Manager linked with the CEO Office, you will provide high-level, confidential project and business administration support. You will operate as a critical support function to the CEO and will become intrinsically involved in a wide range of tasks, projects and broad research to inform overall organisational decision-making and stakeholder relations. You will act as a point of contact on key projects, schedule meetings, create efficiencies, eliminate roadblocks, and support the CEO with their general communications, priorities and inbox management.
Key Responsibilities: Provide high level executive support and co-ordination for the CEO to ensure effective delivery of the FAI Strategy 2022-2025 and related Business Plans Provide business administration support to the CEO Review key emails received by the CEO on a daily basis and work with the CEO to agree how to onward manage correspondences. Draft certain correspondence/email replies, social media postings, briefing packs, reports and papers including preparation of PowerPoint presentations Develop agendas and research key meetings and track/execute meeting outcomes (and actions) as required by the CEO Monitor issues that affect FAI stakeholders on a regular basis both within Irish football and our wider partnerships (local, national and international) Take an active role in supporting public affairs e.g. developing internal and external relationships that can present opportunities for the Association (e.g. Domestic Football Community, Government, UEFA/FIFA, Corporate Ireland) Liaise with relevant stakeholders on protocol matters for FAI events, while providing ongoing event support Conduct research and gather information from across the Association and externally for business reviews or projects on behalf of the CEO, continually looking for efficiencies and evolution Analyse reports and performance metrics for the Association in conjunction with the Strategy Unit Produce regular and ad-hoc research papers and reports on the football landscape, including analysis and development of relevant business cases THE PERSON: The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of Irish sports, particularly football and the wider global football and sports landscape. You should be a strong communicator, both verbally and written and know the importance of discretion and keeping confidence. You should have an ability to build relationships with all stakeholders and quickly gain and maintain the trust of others. You will be expected to proactively anticipate the needs of the CEO and remain calm and collected under pressure, with good judgement in a range of situations.
This role will suit someone with low ego and high impact, who is both a strong team player and an independent thinker and worker.
In this role you will be an enabler to the CEO and enjoy the variety of work that results from this relationship, as well as working alongside other functions in the association. The candidate will have the maturity and style that will allow them to move fluidly between teams.
This role is not intended to be a layer in between the CEO and his direct reports, nor to replace the normal communication amongst that group.
Key Skills and Experience You should demonstrate:
a good knowledge of Irish sports, particularly football and the wider global football landscape a track record of providing executive support to senior leaders exceptional attention to detail and the ability to anticipate the needs of a busy, diverse CEO that you are well organised, confident and independent excellent verbal, writing and research skills good business and commercial antennae the ability to communicate with all staff members, including senior management and executives and the wider football community (especially via email) Advanced Microsoft Office suite skills Good levels of flexibility and adaptability An open, inclusive and friendly approach to all Desirable but not essential Some level of Public affairs experience an advantage Event/Project management experience Closing date for applications is 12pm Monday 4th November 2024
