Wicklow, Ireland  Website: www.italicatessen.ie   Buyer Italicatessen, a leading company in importing and distributing top quality Italian food and wines, is looking for a Buyer to support the business growth.    Position Summary The Buyer's primary responsibilities include planning and selecting a range of products to sell onto retail and food service outlets.
The Buyer must consider customer demand, market trends and budgets when making decisions.
The Buyer will speak to numerous suppliers on a regular basis to ensure the product remains competitive in the market.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a candidate looking to use their skills and competencies in an environment where you can and will be expected to make a difference. The company has ambitious growth plans which will require the function to operate beyond a single site, this role will be pivotal in achieving these plans. The role will report to the Purchasing Manager at our Head Office.
 Job Duties & Responsibilities:       Select new products and review old products for possible rationalisation.
      Ensure sales & margin targets are being achieved and maintained.
      Effective negotiations with suppliers regarding price, volumes, rebate & promos.
      Responsibility for maintenance & development of a robust Demand Planning process.
      Maintain relationships with existing suppliers while seeking new ones.
      Support supply chain process by obtaining maximum flexibility and reliability from suppliers.
      Strategic supplier management ensuring consistency of supply and on time deliveries.
      Support Quality Control, audits and making sure all legal documentation is kept up to date including legislative labelling/packaging requirements       Support with specifications for new product development including material, quality, production technique, packaging and pricing.
      Work effectively with all teams, suppliers and customers to ensure consistency, efficiency, professionalism and effective communication.
      Attend internal meetings as required and to provide updates on your area of responsibility upon request.
      Manage inbound transportation and input to logistics planning.
      Attend trade events where relevant.
      Any other duties as assigned to you by management.
  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:       Recent experience in a Buyer role with a proven track record of delivery.
      Superior analytical skills for the preparation of product demand forecasts, financial profitability of products and inventory management issues.
      Superior process improvement skills.
      Strong communicator.
      Strong business-partnering and interpersonal skills        Organised, flexible and adaptable to changing conditions.
      Ability to develop and successfully execute strategy.
      Ability to deliver under pressure and work to tight deadlines.
      Ability to deliver solutions on time and on budget.

  Ideal Candidate:        Having an understanding of both written and spoken Italian and English would be beneficial for this role       At least 3 years' experience in a similar role - desirable       Experience in the use of Microsoft NAV would be a distinct advantage       Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Package.
