Job Spec: Health and Safety Officer 38hr Week Role Responsibilities Ensure that health & safety policies and procedures are followed and reviewed on a regular basis, with recommendations that lead to continuous improvement in overall health and safety performance.
Facilitate the implementation of safety initiatives across the Group.
Undertake regular site inspections to ensure statutory requirements including training, reporting and auditing are being properly implemented and that working practices are safe and compliant.
Monitor sites compliance regarding documenting and investigating accidents, the follow-up of incidents and near misses and that corrective and preventative actions are appropriately assigned once investigated.
Assist in the identification, assessment and control of occupational health and well being hazards to eliminate physical and psychological illness and injury where practicable.
Suggest effective illness and injury management programmes appropriately.
Keep up to date with health and safety legislation and communicate to the business as required, ensuring all relevant health and safety laws, regulations, standards and codes are identified, monitored and complied with.
Liaise with external parties on health and safety matters as required.
Regularly review sites completion of safety inspections, audits and fire drills and ensure they have been recorded correctly confirm that said procedures are correctly managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
Liaise with contractors and maintain schedules and records for facilities management Regularly review disaster recovery plans, both at site and group level, ensuring appropriate emergency response and business continuity plans are in place to manage operational emergencies and business crises.
Assist in establishing a structured programme of health and safety training across the group, ensuring employees and contractors have the appropriate level of health and safety competence to perform their work activities.
Be proactive in identifying areas for improvement.
Develop and deliver appropriate action plans and toolbox talks to communicate and implement these improvements Provide regular reports to the management on health and safety matters across the group.
Training and Experience Required: The job holder will hold at least a formal qualification in Health & Safety The job holder must have up to date knowledge of current statutory & legislative HSE requirements.
The job holder will be IT literate able to use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; and have good interpersonal and communication skills.
