Position DescriptionJoin our dedicated team providing specialist civil engineering services in the planning and development of high voltage transmission and distribution assets for the Networks Business. The team specialises in:
Conceptual and Detailed Engineering DesignDesign Safety ManagementProject Scoping, Programming and Commercial ManagementThis role involves delivering civil engineering and planning services and coordinating technical specialists from project inception through planning stage design and submission for electricity infrastructure projects at ESB. Additionally, it includes mentoring and supporting junior staff in their professional development.
Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake planning stage designs for HV substation projects, including developing planning drawings and coordinating specialist inputs such as hydrology, ecology, and geotechnical.Provide technical civil engineering expertise during the development phase of HV substation projects to facilitate capital approval.Serve as the Lead Engineer, coordinating multi-disciplinary designs, interfacing with clients and stakeholders, and managing fees and programmes. Relevant training will be provided.Support the technical and professional development of junior staff.Promote and actively participate in the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating a visible commitment to safety.Experience and QualificationsLevel 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.At least 5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering or planning stage design.Strong technical skills in civil engineering and/or planning stage design.Proven ability to deliver results for significant projects and manage key aspects of projects.Clear commercial focus and excellent communication skills.Strong safety awareness.Valid full driver's license for use in the ROI, access to a car, and flexibility to travel nationwide.Experience in Civil Engineering / Utility projects is advantageous.Experience in planning stage design and submission within the jurisdiction is beneficial.Experience in performing the PSDP role on projects.Chartered status or working towards chartered status in a recognised professional institution.LocationThis position will be based in one of ESB E&MP's Offices at Dublin Airport or Eastgate, Cork.
