Sligo University Hospital are seeking to recruit an experienced Clinical Nurse Manager II for the Surgical Department.
Purpose of the Post: The post of CNM II (Surgical North) has a pivotal role in service planning, co-ordinating, and managing activity and resources within the clinical area.
The main responsibilities are: quality assurance, resource management, staffing and staff development, practice development, facilitating communication and professional / clinical leadership.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: · The post holder will support the principle that care of the patient comes first at all times and will approach their work with the flexibility and enthusiasm necessary to make this principle a reality for every patient to the greatest possible degree
· Maintain throughout the Group's awareness of the primacy of the patient in relation to all hospital activities.
· Performance management systems are part of the role and you will be required to participate in the Group's performance management programme
· Practice nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Practice Framework as laid down by the Irish Nursing Board (An Bórd Altranais)
· Adhere to national, regional and local Health Service Executive (HSE) guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation.
· Work within their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice.
· Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour and be accountable for their practice
· Be aware of ethical policies and procedures which pertain to their area of practice
· Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the patient
· Follow appropriate lines of authority within the Nurse Management structure.
· Practice in accordance to relevant legislation, the scope of Nursing & Midwifery Practice Framework (ABA 2000) and the Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (NMBI, 2014)
· Assess, using evidenced based nursing assessments; develop individualised care plans, initiate and evaluate care and treatment modalities within agreed interdisciplinary protocols to achieve agreed patient/client centred clinical and nursing outcomes.
· Identify health promotion priorities in the area of specialist practice.
· Implement health promotion strategies for patient/client groups in accordance with the public health agenda.
