The CNS post holder will deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.

The concepts are:

· Clinical Focus (Direct and Indirect Care)

· Service user/client Advocacy

· Education and Training

· Audit and Research

· Consultancy (including leadership in clinical practice)

Caseload The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CAMHS) has a pivotal role in the delivery of effective, recovery orientated, high quality, team based, integrated care for children and persons under 18 years of age with mental health difficulties.
The purpose of the role is also to provide support to the individual child/young person and their family and/or carer through the delivery of appropriate treatment and recovery orientated interventions in the community and in Eist Linn.
In the community this will include domiciliary visits, family support and liaison with other services.

This post will support the National Mental Health Clinical programme delivery.
The post holder will undertake clinical assessments, initiate a range of evidenced based recovery orientated clinical interventions and link closely with a range of statutory services in secondary and primary care services and with voluntary services in the local community.

They will be expected to work as a member of a mental health team, undertaking standardised assessments and management along with assertive follow up involving families/carers as appropriate.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CAMHS) will also work collaboratively with other nursing specialist areas within Cork Kerry Community Healthcare CAMHS Services.
