Purpose of the Post: The candidate will organise and manage the PACS system on a day-to-day basis to ensure optimal workflow and to provide support and training to clinical and administrative system users, ensuring that the system is functioning effectively, efficiently & safely.
This will include trouble shooting and problem solving as appropriate, liaising closely with all relevant personnel in conjunction with all other duties of a Diagnostic Radiographer.
Responsibilities will include: Responsible for administration, performance monitoring and data quality of the PACS/RIS and other integrated systems.
Responsible for training of staff in PACS/RIS and associated systems.
Perform diagnostic imaging examinations in accordance with departmental protocols.
Promote awareness of best practices and implement changes where appropriate.
Responsible for setting and maintaining a high quality of clinical and professional standards within the department.
Provide a leadership role for staff and others in managing and implementing change.
Contribute to the development of a shared sense of commitment and participation among staff in the areas of work you have responsibility.
Provide leadership of a team of skilled staff, creating and promoting healthy working relationships.
Provide strategic and clinical leadership which results in the delivery of an effective, efficient quality assured and patient centred Radiology service.
Be responsible for driving and enact change in respect of this service and adopt local work practices accordingly.
Clinical Specialists may be required to act up/deputise for the Radiography Services Manager.
Undertake, as team leader, primary responsibility on a day-to-day basis for the PACS service and the effective utilisation of all resources allocated.
Embrace change and adopt local work practices accordingly.
Be accountable for the quality of the service provided, including customer service and technical aspects.
Maintain accurate records of equipment service, maintenance, malfunction, downtime and performance, as required, and co-ordinate preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with clinical demand.
To maintain up to date knowledge of radiographic, clinical, technical, professional developments and promote awareness.
Contribute to financial planning and ensure that appropriate budgetary control procedures are implemented.
Promote and maintain a safe environment for staff and patients.
Assist in the development and implementation of Risk Management and Health and Safety strategies in association with appropriate personnel.
Report and investigate and take appropriate action in accordance with hospital policy in relation to complaints, accidents, risk to patients, staff and members of the public.
Ensure that all hospital policies and relevant legislation on radiation safety is understood by staff and complied with.
Eligibility Criteria: Have the Diploma of the College of Radiographers (Diagnostic) or have a Bachelor of Science or its equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography.
6 years full time post qualification clinical experience.
Possess a recognised Postgraduate course relevant to the specialism (PACS) Be CORU registered Have 4 years practical clinical experience working in PACS Have proven ability to work under pressure.
