The Commis Chef is an important position working closely with the Head Chef and the Kitchen team.
About Us Welcome to The Plaza Hotel Dublin with 122 ensuite bedrooms, state of the art conference facilities & excellent cuisine.
Newly renovated and extensively refurbished, The Plaza Hotel. Over the last 2 years, the entire interior of the 4 star hotel has been extensively refurbished, now comprising of exciting new eateries.
The hotel now offers 122 spacious, comfortable and ensuite bedrooms along with a number of large suites. Two large and naturally lit event spaces, together with 4 meeting suites allow for conferences and events of all sizes, ranging from 5-200 people. Role/Responsibilities Commis Chef works under the supervision of more experienced chefs, such as Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, or the Head Chef.
o Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, peeling, and marinating.
o Follow recipes and guidelines provided by senior chefs for accurate and consistent food preparation.
o Assist in cooking dishes under the guidance of more experienced chefs.
o Operate kitchen equipment and machinery following safety standards.
o Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of kitchen waste.
o Ensure a tidy and sanitary work environment in accordance with food safety regulations.
o Assist in monitoring and managing kitchen inventory, including stock rotation and restocking supplies.
o Report any shortages or discrepancies to senior chefs.
o Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines to maintain consistency.
o Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
o Support the kitchen team during busy service periods, including preparation and plating of dishes.
o Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service.
o Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks.
Requirements: Previous culinary education or relevant experience in a kitchen environment.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Enthusiasm for learning and developing culinary skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding kitchen environment.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Willingness to take direction and learn from experienced chefs.
