About the Role Base Location: Dublin or Belfast

Salary: €56,500 - €84,700 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

As Communications Manager at SSE Energy Customer Solutions, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the narrative for a leading energy provider committed to sustainability and innovation. This role offers the chance to dive into fast-paced, dynamic communications challenges while making a positive impact. You'll have the opportunity to build influential relationships, craft engaging content, and drive strategic campaigns that resonate across UK and Ireland. Key responsibilities include:

Managing content planning across all Energy Customer Solutions (ECS) business areas, ensuring a cohesive and well-coordinated media strategy that maximises impact. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with media outlets across the UK and Ireland, supporting SSE's broader media relations goals. Delivering a top-tier press office service available around the clock, 365 days a year, including managing suppliers and collaborating across SSE's matrix structure. Leading content development while supporting public affairs and stakeholder engagement campaigns for retail supply businesses in Great Britain and Ireland. Applying your keen news sense to identify stories that bring SSE Energy Customer Solutions' purpose to life, while driving high-profile media opportunities and providing strategic briefings to senior spokespeople, including the Managing Director. What do I need? To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

Experience or a strong interest in the energy sector or other complex, regulated environments, with a keen ability to quickly grasp industry issues and trends. Exceptional judgement in assessing reputational risks and opportunities, with a deep understanding of media dynamics and the issues impacting Energy Customer Solutions. Proven ability to brief senior executives, including at Managing Director level, and deliver comprehensive, multi-channel communication strategies. Significant experience in media communications, with a good awareness of the evolving media landscape and extensive contacts within the Irish national media. Strong written and oral communication skills, comfortable advising senior leaders, and proficient in digital storytelling across web and social media platforms. An understanding of financial literacy, particularly within publicly listed or regulatory environments, is also beneficial. About our Business Our Corporate Affairs, Regulation & Strategy (CARS) function combines three quite separate but intrinsically linked businesses, with a shared focus on advising, influencing and communicating SSE's strategy and interests with key stakeholders. This involves the interpretation of complex political and regulatory changes, skilled lobbying to inform the future energy ecosystem, and innovative communication techniques to ensure SSE's story is reached by a broad range of audiences including investors, competitors, governments, partners, suppliers, communities, and both current and prospective employees.
