JOB TITLE: Community and Education Projects Co-Ordinator

RESPONSIBLE TO: Community and Education Manager

CONTRACT: Six months Fixed-Term Contract

The Abbey Theatre is Ireland's National Theatre and occupies a unique position in the hearts and minds of Irish people. It comprises two theatres: the Abbey, with a seating capacity of 492 seats, and the Peacock, with a seating capacity of 157 seats. The Abbey is committed to producing a year-round programme of work both on and off stage, with the priority to create work of excellence, which not only showcases Irish and international drama but also engages with the artistic and civic life of contemporary Ireland.

The Community and Education department is central to diversifying, deepening, and widening public engagement at the Abbey Theatre. Its aim is to open up the national theatre so everyone can participate. It does this by animating the artistic and creative programme through engagement with community organisations, educational institutions, and the general public.

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract to work in the Abbey Theatre's Community and Education team.

This role will co-ordinate the delivery, administration, documentation of, and learnings from, projects such as:

In Real Life Dublin schools tour and preparing same for national tour in 2025 Women in Technical Theatre tour Transition Year work experience week Stanhope Secondary Transition Year project 'Stories From the End of the Garden' process drama from the Civil War in schools 'What's The Story?' migrant project in City West and other International Protection Centres 'Home: Education' online education resources Support of ongoing relationships with Community groups and development of future projects This role will work as part of a team, reporting to and supporting the Community and Education Manager and working alongside the Community and Education Co-Ordinator.

This role requires an immediate start and necessitates someone with the ability to work on site, with occasional travel to schools, workshops, and community groups. The role needs a person with good co-ordination and administration skills and ideally some experience of working in a school, community, and/or theatre setting. Basic software skills in Microsoft Office are a requirement.

Other experience which may be helpful includes theatre producing and/or teaching.
