Our broad line of vascular devices manufactured in Clonmel includes vessel closure, endovascular and coronary technologies designed to treat heart attack, stroke, critical limb ischemia and other serious vascular conditions. Abbott Vascular Clonmel is the largest Abbott Manufacturing facility in Ireland focusing on both manufacturing and research and development of next generation vascular products. Purpose Statement: As the Component Engineer/Supplier Manufacturing Engineer, you will drive improvement and corrective actions in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers. You will provide technical support in the selection of suppliers, develop acceptance criteria for materials, monitor supplier performance, and focus on cost and risk reductions.
Your responsibilities will include: Establishing incoming inspection and test procedures and providing technical support to manufacturing to resolve material or supplier related issues.Developing new supply sources with purchasing team and qualifying components to specified parameters.Assessing potential new suppliers for technical and manufacturing capabilities and providing technical support for the introduction of components from a new supplier.Managing projects to reduce material cost or supply risks.Working with Receiving Improvement teams relating to component usage or design.Leading Process Improvement teams relating to component usage or design.Reviewing material specification releases and revisions as required.Investigating field failures related to supplier materials and developing corrective action plans where necessary.Managing/participating in teams to conduct business risk assessments and developing action plans to reduce or eliminate risks.Education and Job Skills: NQF level 7 in a relevant discipline and +2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices and procedures. General understanding of business unit/group function.Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.Cultivates a wide range of internal networks and begins to develop an extensive external network of resources.Plans, organises, and prioritises own daily work routine to meet established schedule.Exercises authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action.Works under general supervision and follows established procedures.
