What is the Role: The Corporate Governance Team ensures there is a simple, efficient and compliant corporate governance structure in place to support the Group.
We provide secretariat support and corporate governance advice to a number of senior fora including, the Executive Committee, Group Risk Committee, Group Disclosures Committee, the Board Audit and Risk Committees as well as the Board Advisory Committees.
We drive and monitor compliance with legal and regulatory corporate governance requirements, including the CBI Corporate Governance Requirements for Credit Institutions, the UK Corporate Governance Code, relevant EBA requirements and Related Party Lending Obligations in addition to our wider external reporting responsibilities.
A vacancy now exists for a Corporate Governance Manager to help drive change in key areas to deliver a simple and efficient corporate governance structure for the Board and Executive as well as ensuring we continue to meet our wider corporate governance obligations and deliver on our strategic priorities.
The role also encompasses the provision of secretariat support.
Key accountabilities; Take responsibility for driving progress and delivery of the Team's key strategic priorities and business as usual activity, including executive governance reviews and simplification.
Assist the Committee Secretaries with the provision of secretariat support and advice to the Executive and Board Committees supported by the Team.
Lead a team of Corporate Governance professionals.
Support the Team in meeting wider corporate governance obligations as required.
What you Will Bring ; Minimum 4 years' experience, including people leadership, gained from working in a corporate governance role or function in the recent past.
The ideal / advantageous context for this experience would be a financial-services, regulated environment.
Experience in business, finance, risk, legal or other support and control functions in a financial services environment with a broad understanding of AIB's core businesses and operations would also be considered.
Strong communication, stakeholder and people management skills, with the confidence and ability to influence stakeholders.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure, in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities with tight deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve shared objectives.
Previous minute taking experience in a regulated financial services firm would be a distinct advantage.
For this role, there is a preference for professionally qualified candidates (ideally ICSA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or relevant post-graduate legal or business qualifications) or candidates undergoing, or about to commence, relevant exams.
