As a Cost Accountant, you'll work closely with construction management teams to ensure financial success for projects worldwide, apply accounting principles to manage and analyse financial data, and play a key role in the evolution of a growing global business.
Responsibilities: Coordinate with vendors and project managers to finalize project cost reconciliations, wrap up open financial commitments, and issue comprehensive final project reports.
Lead the process of reconciling project costs and closing accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Communicate with suppliers to gather final invoices and manage savings-related change orders.
Ensure swift processing by working closely with Accounts Payable.
Verify committed vs. actual project costs, ensuring all commitments are accurately reflected in the accounting system.
Support the implementation and continuous improvement of internal controls and systems, including SOX-404 compliance.
Assist with preparing materials for audits related to construction and cost accounting.
Collaborate with the Design, Engineering, and Construction teams to ensure the financial integrity of development projects, utilizing the Yardi Job Cost module to manage contracts and change orders.
Regularly engage with project managers, asset managers, and other stakeholders to address any financial or operational issues related to ongoing projects.
Qualifications & Skills: Strong knowledge of construction cost accounting and general accounting principles, with the ability to interpret financial data and perform detailed analyses.
A solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Experience handling tasks such as adjusting journal entries, reclassifying accounts, preparing reconciliations, and other related activities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with intermediate to advanced skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong focus on organization and problem-solving.
The ability to work effectively both independently and in collaboration with others in a fast-paced setting.
Experience with Yardi software is an advantage, though not required.
