Counsel, EMEA Content and Integrity Compliance LegalMeta is seeking a talented Content Lawyer to join its global Content and Compliance team, focusing on the EMEA region. This role involves providing legal support to cross functional internal teams for cutting-edge and complex content, safety and integrity legal issues and projects. The work focuses on counseling on content/integrity regulatory requirements, especially the Digital Services Act (DSA), but also other regulations, such as the UK Online Safety Act (OSA) and the Irish Online Safety and Media Regulation Act (OSMRA), across Meta's family of apps. It will require translating regulatory requirements to cross functional teams and analyzing and managing mitigations and remediations, across a wide variety of product areas. The work will address especially measures at scale, such as current and upcoming reporting/complaints channels.
The ideal candidate would be an experienced, motivated content/integrity or regulatory compliance lawyer, with comprehensive knowledge of the evolving global content regulatory landscape, impacting user-generated content as well as advertising and a deep understanding of operational processes at scale. Alternatively, experience gained in another heavily regulated area will be considered.
You will work closely with other legal teams and cross-functionally (including e.g. Engineering, Operations, Policy), as well as liaise externally and should be able to use initiative in identifying solutions and connecting the dots in our large and complex organisation. The role requires good judgment, a strong work ethic, and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law. ResponsibilitiesAdvise and support Meta's content, integrity and safety product and regulatory teams in preparing for and responding to content, safety and integrity regulation in EMEA.Counsel cross-functional teams on implementation options, legal risk and efficient processes, especially on current and upcoming reporting/complaints channels, across Meta's family of products.Support and help efficiently resolve escalations involving content, including legal takedown requests and policy and press inquiries.Provide legal advice on intermediary liability.Build strong relationships and interface closely with a diverse set of Legal, Engineering, Operations, Data, Policy and subject matter experts.Supervise and direct outside counsel on select requests.Minimum Qualifications3+ years PQE qualified lawyer.In-house or law firm experience advising a heavily regulated industry, translating from regulatory requirements to cross-functional stakeholders.Comprehensive understanding and experience of content regulation, ideally the DSA or the UK OSA (but minimum one of these) and concept of intermediary liability under the E-Commerce Directive.Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines.Preferred QualificationsExperience assessing and advising upon diverse set of regulation governing content issues (including DSA and OSA), across a range of topics.EU or UK qualified lawyer.Experience advising on measures at scale and operational efficiency, e.g. including process charts/playbooks or similar concepts.About MetaMeta builds technologies that help people connect, find communities, and grow businesses.
