Our work positively impacts the lives of over 10,000 people with disabilities, equipping them with the confidence, skills, and self-belief to achieve their expressed goals Job Title: Course Tutor (Communications and Cabling Installation Tutor) Type role 12 months Fixed Term Contract, Full-time 36 hours per week Location: Letterkenny Job Purpose : The Tutor shall be responsible for the training and development of all learners on the programme in accordance with the agreed programme specification (PS), together with the day-to-day management and maintenance of all aspects of the programme. The Tutor shall also be responsible for preparing learners for work placement, supporting learners while on placement and liaising closely with the host company. Minimum Education & Experience required: Telecommunications qualification, higher certificate as a minimum A Certificate in Training and Continuing Education desirable (or an approved equivalent such as QQI Level 6 Training and Development) with 2 years post-qualification training experience. Must be able to demonstrate that they have technical knowledge in the areas for which they are delivering i.e. Communications Cabling Installation (City & Guilds 3668-03). Previous experience in delivering training and carrying out assessments on programmes leading to a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Communications Cabling or above. Experience of maintaining a focus on Health and Safety and good housekeeping guidelines in a training setting and ensuring best practice in the delivery of Safe Working Practices. Proven ability in enabling learners to develop their knowledge and understand of methods of delivering communications networks within the telecommunications industry. Experience in maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders in the provision of the service. Experience in the identification of employment and further education opportunities for course participants. Job Duties & Responsibilities Provide training in the discipline area of education. Develop and design educational curriculum and resources, adapting to the learner's needs and requirements. Stimulate class learning through using a range of learning methodologies, suitable for course content and delivery, to ensure learner engagement is fulfilled and maintaining an appropriate learning environment. Supervise learners with regard to their class attendance and behaviour. Report any concerns to Course Manager immediately. Assess learner work on an ongoing basis, providing evaluation of work and constructive learner feedback to ensure completion of curriculum. Schedule, conduct and assess learner assessments and/or examinations in adherence with internal and external quality procedures; liaising with appropriate key stakeholders. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, liaise appropriately with relevant key personnel such as management, PDO and other staff to maintain programme standards and agreed programme delivery schedules. Maintain all class records in accordance with both internal and external quality procedures, using allocated reporting systems and furnish these records on request to key staff. Carry out any other duties and responsibilities within the general requirements of the above job specification as may be required from time to time. Apply all standards and procedures relating to Health and Safety Acts and maintain the highest levels of safety, ensure a rational and economical use of all equipment, materials and supplies and the maintenance of same.
