Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced D&O Underwriter or Senior Underwriter to join our Executive & Professional team in Dublin. The Underwriter will be responsible for developing and expanding new business opportunities through production & marketing calls with brokers and clients, marketing to distribution channels, prequalifying new business, and utilizing underwriting acumen to select sound risks within company guidelines to maintain profitability.

Our expectations are for the teammate to be able to learn new products and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all levels and disciplines. You should be comfortable working closely with actuaries, the Claims team and underwriters from across the broader team. Good data and file management skills are required. In addition, necessary character, relationship building and negotiating skills to help lead and further build a profitable book of business are of the utmost importance.
The successful candidate will be focused on a positive customer experience, while maintaining sound underwriting discipline. Duties & Responsibilities: Underwriting a wide variety of D&O and FI risks from multinational corporates to middle market risks, across a variety of industries and products. The role is in the D&O and Financial Institutions team. You will be responsible for managing a renewal book as well as expanding and developing new business opportunities and driving development of new products.Assisting leadership with strategy and portfolio management.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity and profitability.Develop and grow the D&O and FI books of business which includes primary and excess for various classes.Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships.Work closely with Claims, Actuarial and Legal teams to evaluate risk and provide solutions to customers.Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Minimum of 3 years Financial Lines underwriting experience, in D&O and/or Financial Institutions.Strong underwriting acumen and experience and understanding of policy forms.Existing broker and customer relationships, or the experience and ability to develop strong broker and customer relationships quickly.Ability to work within a team environment.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.Strong communication skills including advanced negotiation, communication and presentation experience.Degree or equivalent education, and/or strong insurance qualifications.BHSI Offers:
