Cognizant is looking to hire a Database Administrator to join the Team supporting our Multinational Biotech Client based in Cork. This full-time Database Administration role offers an attractive salary and benefits. In this role, you will play a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, security, and availability of our medical device data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities: Database Management: Install, configure, and maintain database systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.) to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Data Integrity: Ensure data accuracy and integrity through regular audits, maintenance, and validation procedures. Security Management: Implement and maintain database security protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Performance Tuning: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency. Database Design: Lead the design and implementation of database schemas, structures, and queries to support business needs. Capacity Planning: Monitor database storage and usage, planning for future growth and scalability. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation. Backup and Recovery: Develop, implement, and manage database backup and recovery strategies to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity. Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures. Collaboration: Work closely with application developers, OT & IT staff, manufacturing systems, and other stakeholders to support database-related projects and initiatives. Experience: Minimum good years of experience in database administration, with a focus on SQL Server, Oracle, and/or MySQL. Experience with database design principles, normalization techniques, and query optimization. Proven analytical and problem-solving experience to develop robust and feasible data models with the ability to abstract and think analytically. Excellent understanding of data security concepts and best practices. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities efficiently. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Oracle Certified Professional) are a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in database management tools and software. Strong knowledge of SQL and database query languages. Experience with database performance tuning and optimization. Familiarity with database security practices and compliance requirements. Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures. Understanding of database design and data modelling principles. Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Strong organizational and time management skills.
