It is a designated trauma unit incorporating the National Pelvic and Acetabular Unit, a regional Urology Centre and the second largest provider of renal dialysis services in the country.
One of the two main academic teaching hospitals of Trinity College Dublin - TUH specialize in the training and professional development of staff in areas such as Medicine, Nursing, Health and Social Care Professionals.
TUH is part of the Dublin Midlands Hospital Group which serves a population of over 1.2 million across seven counties.

We recognise that a skilled, satisfied and motivated workforce is a prerequisite to high quality care.purpose of the role:The Administration Assistant, Grade IV will be responsible for the Administration of Waiting Lists; Validation, and Management of waiting list entries, for the Registration, Admission and Discharge of patients, for Cancelling and Rescheduling of appointments, and also to ensure the smooth running of the administration support for the department they are assigned to.
There are a number of vacancies within the Scheduled Care Department and the Day Ward.
A panel may be formed from which permanent full time / part time/ specified purpose positions vacancies may be filled.
overview of role:Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide general administrative support to the department / Clinical staffRegistration, admission and discharge of patientsAdministration of waiting lists; validation, management of waiting list entriesCancellation and rescheduling of appointmentsInvolved in the Outsourcing of patients to various Private HospitalsLiaise with Consultants and their Multi-disciplinary Teams where appropriateDeal with telephone queries relating to the department functionLiaise with staff in other departments, the public and outside agencies in a confidential, courteous and professional mannerEnsure correspondence with GP's/other Hospital's is dealt with in a timely mannerProvide Reception cover and support to team members as appropriateLocate charts outside of medical records where requiredMaintain efficient general office procedures as appropriate to the postType and file all general correspondence and documentation in relation to the work of the DepartmentProcess and facilitate in the collation and presentation of data in relation to research projects and work undertaken by the DepartmentProvide Medical secretarial support when requiredUse of computer packages relevant to the roleThe above list is not exhaustive and your role may include any other duties as deemed appropriate by your line managerQualifications & Experience requiredMust have:Have obtained at least Grade D3 in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate Examination (higher, ordinary, applied or vocational programmes) or equivalentOrHave passed an examination at the appropriate level within the QQI qualifications framework which can be assessed as being of a comparable to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent or higher i.e.
Fetac Level 5OrHave satisfactory relevant experience which encompasses demonstrable equivalent skillsAndHave a minimum of 2 years administration experience, to include one 1 year health care administration experienceHave satisfactory relevant experience of managing / working with waiting listsPractical experience of use of IT systems / packages Fluent command and understanding of the English language to include spoken and written wordDesirable:Knowledge of scheduling patients for proceduresHave satisfactory relevant experience in the preparation and running of a clinic / admission and discharge of patientsExperience of Microsoft office i.e.
Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPointReward & RecognitionRemuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 0558.The appointment is whole time, permanent and pensionable.
A panel will be formed from which future permanent/temporary, full time/part time opportunities may be filled.
The annual leave entitlement is 27 working days per year.
The leave year runs from 1st April to the 31st of March each year.Normal working hours are 35 worked over 5 days.
Your contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 7am to 8 pm over 7 days to meet the requirements for extended day services in accordance with the terms of the Framework Agreement.
