RTÉ News and Current Affairs has a vacancy for the position of Deputy Editor, assignment to Upfront with Katie Hannon. Upfront delivers a one-hour current affairs programme (Upfront with Katie Hannon) to the TV schedule each week as well as extra coverage of special events. It also provides a weekly podcast (Upfront: The Podcast) as well as weekly written articles (Upfront: The conversation) and other weekly social content (both bespoke and repurposed).
Reporting to the Editor, the Deputy Editor will support the preparation and production of all scheduled and special Upfront content. While live on-air for Upfront with Katie Hannon, their central role is to guard programme output for any legal or editorial issues and establish as quickly as possible the facts to relay to the Editor. They will also be responsible for writing any newslines from the live programme and feeding into inews during or directly after broadcast.
