They are looking for a design manager to join their team; this is a primarily site-based role.
About Your New Job The ideal design manager will have a strong background in architecture or engineering, with a focus on project management and coordination. Their role is to oversee the design process from a managerial perspective, ensuring that all aspects of the project run smoothly and meet the client's vision. Day-to-day tasks typically include:
Coordinating the Design Team: Managing and overseeing the efforts of architects, engineers, landscape designers, and other design professionals to ensure seamless collaboration and integration across disciplines.Project Scheduling: Ensuring the project stays on track by developing and maintaining detailed timelines, managing deadlines, and proactively addressing any delays or roadblocks.Client Liaison: Acting as the primary point of contact between the client and the design team, ensuring clear and consistent communication and that the client's needs and expectations are met throughout the design process.Budget Management: Monitoring and controlling the project's budget, working with the team to identify potential cost-saving opportunities without compromising design quality or client requirements.Quality Control: Ensuring that all design deliverables meet the required standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics, while also adhering to building codes, regulations, and sustainability goals.Problem Solving: Addressing and resolving any issues or challenges that arise during the design phase, including technical or logistical problems, and offering creative solutions.Stakeholder Management: Maintaining effective communication with all project stakeholders, including contractors, consultants, and local authorities, ensuring alignment and clarity on project goals and deliverables.The design manager plays a critical role in balancing the creative vision with practical execution, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
What Skills You Need Qualifications in Architecture/Architectural Technology and Project Management with a strong technical background in design and the ability to manage projects effectively.
Leadership in Design & Negotiation with a proven ability to lead design efforts and negotiate with clients, contractors, and consultants to meet project goals.
A meticulous approach to design management with a focus on deadlines and quality control, and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate ideas and motivate teams to achieve shared goals.
