Diesel Engine Fitter

Job Title: Diesel Engine Fitter Location: Portlaoise.
Salary: €72,696 Shift Pattern: Continental shifts (days and nights) ________________________________________ Position Overview Join our team at the Portlaoise Depot as a permanent Engine Fitter, working with skilled technicians to perform maintenance and repairs on the powerpacks of the Class 22000 DMU fleet.
This role involves a continental shift pattern, covering both day and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities * Provide comprehensive support on mechanical and electrical systems for MTU1800 Power Units.
* Follow workload plans that include day and night shifts on a rotating basis.
* Perform high-level testing and advanced fault-finding to support vehicle and system maintenance.
* Compile and maintain detailed documentation and test reports.
* Actively engage in Quality Production Systems (QPS) and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Ensure proper waste disposal and adherence to both written and verbal instructions.
Person Specification Background & Experience * Solid knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines.
* Proficient in fault-finding and use of modern diagnostic tools.
Qualifications * Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 equivalent.
* Prior experience in the rail or plant industry.
