BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – WEST REGION POST OF: TEMPORARY FULL-TIME DIGITAL AND ACCESSIBLE TECHNOLOLGY SUPPORT WORKER DIGITAL AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY PROJECT – ADULT SERVICES JOB REF: 73038 The Role: The Digital and Accessible Technology (DAT) team is an exciting new team within the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland West Region (BOCSI-WR).
It is committed to bringing Assistive Technology (AT) and clinical specialists together to enhance the lives of people supported.
As part of this team you will get the opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team, use state of the art equipment, and bring your own creativity into the role.
The successful candidate will join the DAT Officer, part-time Senior Speech and Language Therapist, part-time Senior Occupational Therapist, and part-time Gaming Support Worker as part of the core team.
This position is supported by CREATE II funding under the National Clinical Programme for People with Disabilities.

Reporting To/ Responsible To: DAT Officer and Speech and Language Therapy Manager.

Works with: People supported and their circle of support Frontline staff BOCSI - West Region Multi-disciplinary staff Digital and Accessible Technology Team Assistive Technology Working Group Advocacy groups Educational, Health, Vocational and Community Agencies Qualifications/Experience/Skills: The successful candidate must have:

Third level qualification in a relevant field such as Assistive Technology, Health and Social Care professions, Health and Social Care Assistants, Teaching, Computer Science, Creative Multimedia or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years' experience working in a relevant field in association with relevant training will be considered. A keen interest in working with people with intellectual disabilities. Some experience of directly supporting a person/people with assistive technology. Demonstrates passion for technology and have a good understanding of how technology can support individuals to achieve their goals. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Fluency in verbal and written English is an essential requirement of this post. A full clean Irish driving licence and the use of one's own car is essential. Ability to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service. Excellent organisational skills and administrative skills. Ability to work under own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent IT skills. Highly Desirable: Completed Foundations in Assistive Technology Course Level 5 Accredited by Technological University Dublin. Have proficiency in using and troubleshooting various digital and assistive technologies QQI Level 5 Intellectual Disability Practice. QQI Level 6 Train-the-Trainer. Experience in providing training for others. Experience supporting people with an intellectual disability. Working Hours: 78 hours per fortnight based on a 5 day Monday to Friday basis.
Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. over 7 days as future service needs require.
Flexibility may be required in order to meet Service demands.

The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.
The Health Service is undergoing ongoing transformation and therefore it is critical that a flexible attitude to changing environments and work requirements is held by the successful candidate.

Annual Leave: The annual leave attached to this post is 22 days per annum.

Remuneration Salary Scale: Department of Health 1st October 2024 Care Assistant salary scales - €32, 699 x 11 increments - €45,190 (max) per annum.
Long Service Increment (LSI) €45, 984 per annum is payable after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.

Tenure: This post is temporary, full-time & pensionable for a fixed-term period of 6 months.

Travel/Base: The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer.
Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty.
The position will be based within the West Region.
The base for this purpose will be determined on appointment.
