Role Purpose
Reporting to the directors, the Digital Construction Manager has overall group responsibility for the implementation, development and delivery of BIM and co-ordination throughout the organisation. The role of the Digital Construction Manager is split between Departmental Management, Project Delivery, and BIM Development. To achieve these goals, the BIM manager must actively fulfil their Roles & Responsibilities.
Key Functions of the Digital Construction Manager Department Management Ensure BIMCAD department is correctly resourced. Ensuring team members have all the necessary tools to complete their tasks. Development of BIM department organisational chart. Creating all BIM documentation, workflows, execution plans, etc. Integrating BIM within other departments and functions within the organisation. Promoting BIM as a workflow with senior management and developing cross-function capabilities. Reporting on the status of BIM development within the organisation. Conducting post-project lessons learned with the team. Reporting on BIM productivity within projects. Marketing of BIM capability in order to attract projects from potential clients. Assisting with commercial and estimating departments with regard to project cost control and pricing. Digital Construction Manager Responsibilities
In conjunction with your project team, you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:
Project Delivery Production of project BIM workflow. Ensure all parties collaborate through workflow. Audit Vault sharing software. Audit submitted files to Vault. Conduct weekly co-ordination meetings. Support all parties working within the BIM process. Ensure all BIM hardware and software within the BIM environment is available and being utilised to its full potential. Ensure all deliverables and deadlines are met by the BIM team. Point of contact for client on all BIM and co-ordination issues. Ensure all co-ordinated drawings are issued to site. Drive onsite efficiencies through a digital construction process. Ensure project team utilise an offsite fabrication approach. Ensure site team install as per the detailed co-ordination and fabrication procedures. BIM Development Attending BIM seminars, conferences, and workshops that can further aid the development of BIM within the organisation. Monitor the latest innovation and technology within the sector to ensure Kirby BIM are up to date with all latest advancements within the sector. Provide continuous training for team to ensure latest techniques, trends, and software are being utilised to ensure maximum productivity. Continuous assessment of software and upgrades to maximise Kirby Group's BIM potential. Responsible for BIM standards development and enforcement. Continuous development of model Planning 4D, Cost Estimating 5D, Sustainability 6D, Facility Management 7D. Development of 3D rendering and animation capability. Continuous development of IPD. Development of Digital Prototyping & Fabrication. Continuous development of Modularisation & Offsite fabrication. Continuous development of Fabrication & Installation Drawings. Ensuring BIM within the organisation is developing with the latest technology, IFC, COBie. Continuous adoption of technology. Necessary requirement of the Digital Construction Manager 3rd level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Building Services Engineering. A minimum of 5 years' experience within a BIM Co-ordination Management role. Mechanical or Electrical background and have a proven track record in a similar role. Proven ability to lead a team. Strong communication and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and to short deadlines.
