Location: The Irish Times HQ, Tara Street (Hybrid Working) Contract: 2 Year, Fixed Term, Possibility of Extension Responsibilities and requirements Edit and update stories to a high standard. Excellent writing skills and high levels of proofreading and editing. Accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation and strong attention to detail. A proven track record in editing. Write strong, engaging headlines, in line with best SEO practices. Combine editing accuracy with speed and efficiency. Ensure content is legally sound. Write online stories when required. Re-write stories based on direction from commissioning desks when necessary. Enhance digital content with links, images, tags and embeds, and other multimedia, such as picture galleries and audio/video. Demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, and an ability to work with the latest technologies as part of a multi-skilled team. Stay up to date with current digital trends and innovations to continuously improve our digital content and strategies. Perform other relevant digital production work as required by the Managing Editor - Production. Cover for absent colleagues as needed. Desirable skills/qualifications: Strong editorial judgment and understanding of media law. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Strong knowledge and experience in SEO. Proficiency in using content management systems (CMS) and digital production tools. Familiarity with multimedia content creation and editing (images, video, audio). Experience with social media platforms. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Irish a useful but not essential skill
