As we scale our business, we are seeking a highly-motivated, adaptive, and business-minded privacy leader to oversee a stellar team in counseling business partners with practical advice and running Zendesk's global privacy program. This role will report to Zendesk's Associate General Counsel, Product & Privacy.
Preferred locations: Dublin, London, Lisbon, or Kraków
Responsibilities (what you get to do every day):Build trusting relationships across security, IT, data governance, product development, marketing, commercial, procurement, and HR, and provide these teams with high-quality, actionable legal advice that enables Zendesk to meet its ambitious goals.Advise colleagues in the legal team on privacy topics relevant to their areas of ownership (such as commercial, product, and employment).Manage a team of dedicated privacy professionals, own and drive the company's privacy program and strategy, identifying and executing your vision for its improvement and continued success.Refine the fundamentals, like incident response, commercial negotiation, vendor assessments, data subject requests, and marketing lead management; and enhance the new and important, like AI governance.Consult with Zendesk's external Data Protection Officer to ensure privacy compliance and the protection of data subject rights.Develop, update and maintain privacy and data protection documentation (e.g., privacy notices, contract negotiation playbooks, ISO certificates, Binding Corporate Rules, and guides).Stay informed of changes and developments in laws, regulations, standards and guidance and update business practices/processes accordingly.Train, educate, mentor, and inspire your colleagues across all levels of the company.Understand and support the company's business goals while mitigating risk.What you have:Extensive experience within a top-tier law firm and global SaaS technology company including as an in-house legal privacy leader.Licensed to practice law in-house in one or more EMEA jurisdictions.Certifications such as CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe) or other IAPP credentials are highly desirable.Experience leading a high-performing team across multiple time zones, and a passion for developing people.An ownership mentality as the face of global privacy.Attentive to detail with exceptional written and verbal communication skills that allow you to explain privacy concepts to colleagues in direct, easy-to-understand language.Desire to roll up your sleeves and growth mindset: as a working manager, no task is too big or small with an interest in learning and growing.Positive attitude and ability to work effectively on a team.
