Time Commitment: 1 day per week.

Institute of Obstetricians and GynaecologistsThe Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, RCPI, is the national professional and training body for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Ireland, working to ensure the highest standards in women's health. The Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (IOG) are accredited by the Medical Council of Ireland and are proud to meet the strict standards required to deliver postgraduate specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Training and Education OverviewThe Royal College of Physicians of Ireland delivers postgraduate specialist training to over 1,200 doctors in 29 specialities. This training takes place in structured rotations on hospital sites across Ireland, and is supported by a network of local trainers, Programme Directors and National Specialty Directors.
Role OverviewThe Director of Education and Training for the Institute of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists is responsible for the oversight and development of the postgraduate education for the Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialist training programmes in both Basic and Higher Specialist Training.
ResponsibilitiesDevelopment and implementation of policy on postgraduate education Lead the development and implementation of strategy for postgraduate training, research and education within the Institute.Contribute to the continuing improvement of postgraduate education programmes in line with international standards.Oversee the quality assurance of the training programmes.Lead the development of the training programmes with respect to curricula development and assessments.Develop and organise study day programme and simulation educational programme for the postgraduate training programmes.Meet regularly with the Chair (at least every two months) and key training personnel to discuss updates and ongoing matters related to training.Lead the specialty accreditation process with the Medical Council of Ireland on behalf of the Institute.Review applications for the Specialist Division of the Register.Interaction with Trainees and Staff Guide decisions relating to postgraduate trainee progress and take a leading role in monitoring postgraduate trainee progress at Institute level.Provide academic and pastoral advice to postgraduate trainees referred by National Specialty Directors.RequirementsFellow or Member of the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in good standingRegistered on the Medical Council Specialist DivisionExperience in medical postgraduate training and educationA background in medical education is desirable.
