Lawler Group are a well-established business operating within the traditional engineering and sustainability and energy management sectors. Currently experiencing growth in new business opportunities, we now require a full-time permanent Director of Finance to join the team.
This role, reporting directly to the directors, involves leading the financial strategy and management of a well-established organisation.
The Director of Finance will oversee financial operations, manage a team of four, and play a key role in budgeting, audits, and stakeholder negotiations.
The position requires strategic leadership to ensure the organisation's financial sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities: Strategy and Leadership  Develop and execute multi-year business plans (Long Term Plan)  Execute the financial strategy as it relates to managing against the annual budget and the Long-Term Plan.  Develop alternative scenarios and options to support the Executive Team in planning for growth and profitability.  Seek every opportunity to develop a culture of margin optimisation across the organisation  Oversee the timely and accurate development of budgets, financial reports, and models that will assist the directors in making informed strategy, resource allocation, and investment decisions.  Review, maintain and develop the financial policies and procedures framework which support the business and strategic objectives, consistent with overall policies and procedures.  Financial Management Full responsibility for day-to-day financial management of corporate and related party entities  Controlling: oversee and review of monthly management accounts, variance analysis on the P&L and cashflow.  Management and oversight of budget and forecast preparation and delivery, updating on a rolling basis.
Funding and facility requests - preparation of presentation to potential financiers, financial due diligence queries and coordinating legal diligence.  Bank funding ongoing - ensuring bank covenants are met and preparing quarterly compliance statements.
Dealing with bank queries quarterly.  Management of cashflows across the group, bank account activity across the entities and managing all property leases.  Definition and monitoring of appropriate financial and non-financial KPI for the performance of the company  Evaluate and oversee risk management and insurance issues.  Compliance and Reporting  Manage and liaise with external accountants to ensure compliance and continuous financial improvement.
Presentations and reports monthly.
Deliver an appropriate system of financial analysis to extract and present key performance data on the business.  Review and manage (and establish as needed) internal systems, controls, processes, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, compliance, and usefulness of financial information and reporting.  Team Management and Development  Lead and develop a team of two (2) Financial Assistants, a credit controller and an Accounting Technician apprentice, ensuring strong collaboration and team performance.
Inspire and lead the team members to achieve the Finance Department and business strategies and actively support their professional development, skills, and experiences.  Model ingenuity in leading the evaluation and development of cost-effective and efficient systems, processes and contract relationships to maximize return on investment, staff success and impact.  Qualifications: Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CPA).
Minimum 5 years of senior management experience.
Strong leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal abilities.
Excellent organizational and strong people management skills.
Proficient in the use of financial management software.
The following would make you stand out from other applicants: Experience in Corporate Finance (specifically project based finance fundraising).
Experience in ERP systems implementation.
Strong knowledge of financial principles, budgeting, and reporting.
Experience with Sage 50 and simPRO would be a significant plus.
Experience working in a Senior Finance/Accountancy role within Engineering/Construction industry an advantage but not desirable.
The candidate must obtain the relevant legal requirements to work in Ireland
