Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow To establish and grow our engineering consultancy in Ireland, we are seeking a Director of Operations to lead our business.
You'll be responsible for opening our Dublin office and expanding our key sectors—Infrastructure, Rail, Energy, and District Heating.
Building on our recent successes and achievements in the UK, your role will be crucial in developing our consultancy services and driving our growth in Ireland.
On a day-to-day basis, you'll be responsible for: Leadership and General Management: Preparing and implementing a Department Action Plan which complements and addresses the Irish strategy Building a team while ensuring a structure that reflects the needs of the business Liaising with clients, Business Development Director and Market Directors to ensure local and wider business development opportunities are maximised Ensuring that department employees are aware of all policies and goals that meet the strategic direction of the business Preparing and submitting information to Senior Management in the UK as required, including department forward work planning Being an active member of the COWI UKs and Ireland leadership team People Management: Leadership and people management of the department including competency development and employee engagement Department resource management Delivery: Ensuring early project and enquiry compliance with Integrated Management System Maintaining coordination of department project work to ensure timely delivery Liaising with Portfolio Managers as required to monitor the performance of projects anchored in the Department Ensuring achievement of operational targets for a portfolio of projects (i.e., accurate planning and ETC, delivery management, quality assurance, contingency and risk management) Technical expertise and project management sparring support to enhance project delivery and team development Business Development: Growing COWI brand in Ireland.
Maintaining customer focus and continuity through delivery.
Key account manager for selected key accounts.
Building and maintaining an effective network with clients and partners located in Ireland.
Contributing to the development and implementation of strategies and actions plans to support business growth in specific focus areas in Ireland.

On top of that, you'll have: A degree in Engineering accompanied by relevant experience in civil engineering projects within the Infrastructure or Energy sectors Experience in Project Management and Line Management with an enthusiasm for developing your team Line management experience and the interest and ability to effectively guide, develop, inspire, and retain a diverse multidisciplinary department to meet the short-term and long-term strategic business goals Demonstrable relevant Irish civil engineering design experience, with experience in one or more of the following sectors, highways, rail, water and energy.
Experience of supervising complex and cross-organizational initiatives and develop cooperative relationships with project managers, execution leads and client stakeholders A high level of technical skills, knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards An ability to participate in proposal development, evaluate business risk and support business development activities A sound understanding and experience in the application of the CDM Regulations Experience working in Design and Build projects Good communication skills.
