Job Summary: The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing all costs relating to mechanical engineering and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) projects.
This role is critical in ensuring financial efficiency across a range of high-profile projects, including commercial buildings, pharmaceutical facilities, data centres, and public sector developments.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and experience in handling complex project environments.
Key Responsibilities: Cost Management:Prepare, manage, and monitor all cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for projects, ensuring that projects remain within budget while meeting quality standards.
Project Valuation:Conduct regular valuations of ongoing projects and prepare interim applications for payments, final accounts, and change orders.
Contract Administration:Review and negotiate contracts, manage contract variations, and ensure compliance with contract terms.
Risk Management:Identify project risks and implement appropriate measures to mitigate financial risks, including cost forecasting and project cost analysis.
Procurement:Manage the procurement process for subcontractors, materials, and services, including sourcing, evaluating tenders, and preparing recommendation reports.
Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project objectives are met, and proactively address project-related issues.
Financial Reporting:Provide regular financial reports and updates on cost performance, project cash flow, and profitability projections to senior management.
Stakeholder Management:Maintain positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure alignment and communication on all financial matters.
Qualifications and Experience: Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field; professional membership (e.g., MRICS, SCSI) preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of quantity surveying experience, preferably within mechanical contracting or MEP projects.
Strong knowledge of the Irish construction industry and experience with commercial, pharmaceutical, data centre, and public sector projects.
Proficiency in cost management software and tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam).
Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and excellent time management abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
